I love that these books are not formulaic. Even though I'm never overly concerned for the safety of the characters, I am still taken by surprise regularly. Very great books, love this author.

I don't think Mull has ever written a sci-fi type book, and the blending that he's done between sci-fi and fantasy in this book was super fun! I think there could have been a little bit more sci-fi worked in, but it was still highly engaging. I also like that the series is now branching out a little bit more in that it doesn't just stick to the one setting that it starts in. It can feel like a bit of a checklist having each book be a separate kingdom, but it feels like Mull is putting some things in the works to make sure that each book isn't just the same story in a different setting.

I can't wait for book 4!

I love this series so much! Mull is just fantastic during action sequences. This entry in the series is full of charm and intrigue. It also boasts quite a large cast of characters, but it wasn't too much to handle. The way the characters interact with each other feels very fluid and authentic. The world building elements in this series are so well thought out and enjoyable. I am so glad I already own the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this latest addition to the Five Kingdoms series. Mull continues to introduce amazingly entertaining characters and delivers of a fun story. This book, however, is not without its disappointments. I felt the introduction of one of the important characters felt a little underdeveloped and too hard to believe. Mull admits he was rushed to get this book out and I could feel that as I read. The pacing was just a little off in some parts. But that being said, this is still a very fun read and I look forward with eagerness for the rest of the series.

I just finished this book tonight and wow! This is the greatest book of the series so far. You have a thorough understanding of the main cast and their goals as you travel through Zeropolis, a highly advanced city/country. You learn about bots, AI, and the dangers it can hold. You discover a secret about an Enforcer and the plot thickens between the controlling forces of the Outlands! This is a wonderful read with a deliciously fast paced storyline and the action is just right.
