One of my new favorites!

I have read both of the Lola Pink books in just 2 days! I can't recommend them enough & I can't wait for Shades of Sunshine!! I love these characters & the stories the author builds for them.

Lola is in the thick of getting the house/business remodeled by a new company since the previous carpenter tried to kill her. Construction is rolling and provides a new interest for Babs, while Semi and Annalise are still going strong. Dane needs Lola's help when he's accused of murdering a model that was doing work for his company. She starts looking into it and while doing so finds danger herself. In the course of investigating, her and Dane grow closer and she finally meets his horrible snooty parents. Tasked with creating a fundraising event from scratch to impress Dane's mother has Lola scrambling, overwhelmed, and out of her element. Trying to clear Dane's name puts her in the cross hairs of a killer and under the scrutiny of Dane's family and the police. As she makes headway, she and Dane also have surprising revelations and secrets as their relationship moves forward to a new place.

The story moves along at a nice pace from the beginning to the end, making this a quick, light read. We continue through Lola Pink's life after solving the case of the missing blueprints and almost dying in the first book. I really appreciate the way Gina intertwined murder into the story without making it seem unrealistic. As always, Lola gets herself into some tight situations that she humorously escapes. And of course, solves the murder to save the day.

I loved this book. The characters are so well written that I feel like I know them. I am close to a few people that are intraverted and Dane is perfect. And Lola is the perfect extrovert trying to understand him and protect him from the craziness of life. There is one part where one of her best friends explains to Dane that he cannot keep Lola all to himself. I love it. Great story.

First: this book is not a standalone and picks up short after book 1. If you haven't read the first book you will be lost.

Lola is still working for Dane as his personal assistant but she recognizes she has feelings for him. Especially when he is accused of killing Andrea, a model who was doing a photoshoot with him. Lola tries to investigate, meanwhile juggling to organize a major charity event for Dane's family. Meeting the parents can be stressful as well. Fortunately she can always count on her two best girlfriends!

I enjoyed the blossoming romance between Lola and Dane. It was sooner than I expected, but no complaints here.
It was a rather fast read and not too complicated. I am looking forward to the next as I would like to read more about Dane's company and mysterious Warehouse 11.
