I enjoyed Savage Lover but felt the romance wasn’t as strong as the previous two books in the series. I like Camille and Nero but I feel like their romantic journey was on the pages less than Aida/Callum and Nessa/Miko which prevented the reader from emotionally connecting with them as a couple. That being said I still couldn’t put this book down. I would recommend this book!

Another quick, easy read. This wasn’t my favourite from the series, I found the relationship development between Nico and Camille to be a bit contrived with them falling for each other based on no real reason. BUT it was still enjoyable and I was still rooting for them. The spicy bits were pretty hot too.

Savage Lover is the third book in the Brutal Birthright series, and is about Nero Gallo. Nero is at a house party at the beginning of the story, and he comes to the defense of Camille Rivera. She’s getting harassed by some people she knew in high school while looking for her 17 year old brother, Vic. Camille finally finds him and pulls him out of the party. While driving him home she discovers that he’s been selling the street drug Molly on the side for a guy named Levi. Unfortunately they get pulled over, and the bag of drugs he had get confiscated by a man named Officer Matthew Schultz. In order for her brother Vic not to get in trouble Camille says the drugs are hers. Schultz let’s them go for the night then comes to see her at her father’s autobody shop where she works the next day. He convinces her to become his confidential informant in regards to Levi by selling drugs for Levi. She then would report back to him everything that goes down, including the location of the lab where he makes the drugs. Camille reluctantly agrees, and goes to Levi’s place to convince him to let her take her brother’s place selling drugs for him. He takes her on as a dealer. She never actually sells the drugs, she just pretends she does, with Shultz giving her a wad of cash each time to give to Levi.

Meanwhile the Gallos are on to their next project with Gallo Construction. Nero has the idea for the next project which would be the South Works site. They don’t have enough capital at the moment for it, despite partnering with the Griffins combined. So Nero gets the idea to rob Alliance Bank, cozying up to Raymond Page, the owner of the bank’s daughter, Bella.

Camille finds out her father has cancer, and convinces Nero to let her in on the heist as the getaway driver. She wants in on it so she can help pay her dad’s medical bills, and pay for Vic’s upcoming college. He eventually agrees. All the while both Nero and Camille are falling for each other, as the confide more and more in each other.

I’m still really enjoying this series, and I think Camille is my favourite FMC so far, but I wish more of their relationship had been developed on-page as it seemed to happen very quickly.

I feel so extremely underwhelmed. so far, this is the weakest instalment in the Brutal Birthright series. the pacing was off, the plot was kind of a mess, and I simply could not believe in Camille and Nero's love story. the entire development of their relationship was off-page, which made for a rather two-dimensional relationship and unconvincing character development (2.43)
