Another great book, honestly loved this one more than "Gideon". This series is gold.

I have to admit that this book was so confusing in the beginning. The point of view where it’s as though the narrator is speaking directly, almost turned me off of the book completely, but I continued because of how much I liked the first book.

After being almost half way through the book and still confused, I decided to look up an explanation of what was going on and I found a Reddit post that gave a wonderful overview of the book. Yes, there were spoilers, but at that point I was ready to dnf the book if I didn’t figure out what was going on.

The explanation was great and if you’re like me and confused by the book I recommend looking up a full overview of the book. It gave context to what was going on and helps to let you enjoy the author’s storytelling better.

There were still moments I got a little lost because of the science?, magic?, both I think, that was happening in the story, but it wasn’t too bad.

The book is partly from Gideon’s pov. She was locked in a part of Harrow’s brain so that Harrow wouldn’t fully be able to consume her. The parts where the narrator talks to the reader is Gideon talking to Harrow while seeing things from her locked up part of the brain.

Harrow changed her memories of the first house to some alternate reality full of the ghosts of people that died so that she could remember becoming a lyctor, but not remember Gideon. That’s the other pov so that we know what Harrow thinks happened.

Omg omg omg I’m so glad Gideon came back. She’s my favorite character. I love her commentary about everything. I’m so excited to find out what happens next.
