Lestat and Rowan Mayfair? I was bothered at first, but, hey, if Michael can get it on with the decade younger Mona while Rowan was in dire straits (in the Mayfair Chronicles), then by all means get that vampire lovin'. Rowan...get it, girl.

Yet again, this was a compelling story - and it was incredibly bloated, as usual. Reading 400+ pages of contents in quotes is a bizarre experience. Quinn was interesting, maybe not fascinating - I'm not sure what made him special, except he's pretty. I don't think "love" means the same thing for vampires as it does for me, and the throw the term around egregiously. I'm also convinced that my perspective is very different from Ms. Rice - and it's forever to be reminded and irritated by that fact as I read her books.

absolutely one of my favourite books in this series. i had a dream before i knew anything about this book i had a ghost pal called goblin and now im convinced it was a vision. got so immersed in this, the only issue is its all 100% quinn and there's barely any vampire stuff, you couldve made this some spin off in the same universe like mayfair witches or vittorio. goblin is fucking hilarious, i read all of this in a Louisiana accent and it added so much to it.

4 stars. It took a while to get into this one but it was definitely worth it in the end. I enjoyed it much more than the last two books. This is Quinn Blackwood’s story and again, it’s slow going at first but it is a compelling tale. He’s a very interesting character with an interesting life.

Also, my emo soft boy vamp Lestat is back in this one so that automatically bumped my rating up. He takes Quinn under his wing as a protege which I loved. This book is very heavily tied into Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches series which I haven’t read yet and I feel like this is a book that I will definitely revisit once I do. It didn’t hinder my enjoyment but it took a bit to get used to all of the characters and their relationships to one another. Still, it was a really good read.
