2020: rereading this book and I am remembered why I find it one of the weakest in the whole series. It’s a book that isn’t really a book. It could have been added to either the 5th or the 7th in this series. Or edited down more. It’s also when King starts to get super meta in his writing. I still love this story and this journey but it’s not even remotely close to a favorite.

2016: I enjoyed this book, but the ending.... Not so much. As I turn the corner into the final chapter of the dark tower series I'm kinda bummed but excited to see the ka-tet reach the tower. If they all make it.

Such a breath of fresh air after Wolves. I think the series really needed to return to the frenetic pace and unhinged wackiness of books 2 + 3. It was a bit too confusing at times, and the
Spoiler King self-insertion stuff
Spoiler was pushing it a bit. But overall it was a fun ride with some major gut punches, and set up the finale really well.
