The story is solely about planning the act of killing Elizabeth and led me through the day to day activity of the family and all of their collected friends. Wally, Ring & Risa make some new friends and allies of a couple of immortals. Patroclus and Achilles from Greek mythology make appearances and if you know Greek mythology, you are well aware of the tangled web from which they come. Both know of Elizabeth and of her horrendous schemes that are measured by the most horrible wars and historical genocide. Elizabeth manipulated these events so she could receive power from the death and destruction. Over and over I am reminded of her menace as she gleefully laughs through it all. Delphine plays an important part in this story much to the dismay of Wally and Risa. Funny thing, I didn’t hear much complaining from Ring though...

Outstanding, yet again. Terry Maggert really takes a lot of time to craft his engaging stories, and you can tell he really shares that excitement with his audio-book reader, Rebecca. I loved The Forest Bull, and was excited to enjoy the Mask of The Swan as well, and it blew me out of the water. This book is even better then the prequel. You know the characters now, and they are just so real and raw. None of them are perfect, they have flaws but they really believe in what they are doing, and it keeps them going. Elizabeth is a great villain. I really enjoyed the dynamic that she brought to this story, and the conflict that came up with the cast of characters. We first experience her in the prequel, but her growth, and the level of what's at stake in this novel really makes it something really amazing to read. I like that the author chooses to really research in his book. He grounds everything in really solid believable facts and he really wants you to understand the characters and really believe this could be taking place right now, right in your neighborhood bar and you'd never know. I enjoyed the adventure, it had to on the edge of my seat in some places, and laughing out loud in others. I think enjoying the book in the audio version is highly recommended. You really get a strong sense for the characters because Rebecca does an awesome job really embodying each character and bringing them to life. Another great book for Maggert, and I look forward to hopefully seeing these characters in another bad-guy fighting scenario at some point! They've become on of my favorite evil fighting teams, and I think they are just so well crafted, you think of them after you've turned the book off :)
