While a Martian invasion is less up my alley of interest than his previous book, this is nonetheless another example of Felix J Palma's skillful writing and plot development around the themes he developed in his Map of Time.

I liked this book much more than the first but not nearly as much as I liked the final book in the trilogy. By a twist of fate I happened to start off with the third book and came back round to the beginning. One thing I must admit is that Mr. Palma possesses an incredibly wild imagination.

second read and I still like this book a lot more than the first one. It's more fast-paced and intriguing and intense.

I'm a personal fan of the snarky, 4th wall breaking narrative style of both this book and The Map of Time. I really like the lighthearted attitude that the story is a story, its full purpose in mind throughout the book. The plot twists are fun. I could understand feeling the book is too long but personally I love going on all these random tangents without knowing what the payoff will be but knowing that it will be something relevant after all.

It took me forever to get to the 10% mark to DNF this, and the second I got there, it started doing the "oh ho dear reader let me smugly interrupt to tell you backstory before the plot carries on" thing *again*.

I loved the first book in this series more, because it was about time travel. This one is about a Martian invasion, but still the incredible imaginative style.
