Read because it was a recommended reverse harem. It’s fast paced enough to keep me engaged with the story. Sparknotes: Daisy is a Norm, struggling to provide for herself and her sister after her parents were murdered in front of her 7 years ago at the hands of Idols. They were murdered in relation to her dads work, he was a journalist that found a weapon that can kill Idols.

Daisy works in a diner and has an altercation with a group of 4 Idols. Daisy is then desperate to quickly get as much money as she can to flee the city with her sister as she suspects the vindictive Idols will seek her out and kill her.

Daisy goes to a strip club to work for the night where she is offered a scholarship to the Gifted Academy which she accepts.

Story takes off from there where Daisy then finds she is now attending school with the same 4 Idols that threatened to kill Daisy the day before in the diner.

These 4 Idols become the love interests as their hatred turns to lust and then something more.

Bryce - main love interest of book. Level 17. Nicest possibly of group?

Rufio - Bryce’s brother. Level 15. Aggressive, most rash.

Phoenix - Level 15. Tormented and sleaziest.

Morpheus - Level 15. Tortured by his power. Does not trust Daisy whatsoever.

In this world there are Idols (those with power and being in the bloodline of demigods), Fringes (people with some level of power but no where near that of an Idol), and Norms (those with no power).  This story mainly follows Daisy, Bryce, Rufio, Phoenix, and Morpheus.  With Daisy being a Norm and the other four Idols.  After their parents are killed by Idols, Daisy and her sister Rosie run away to try and survive.  Seven years later, Daisy is working in a diner when she antagonizes the four Idols above.  When she finds herself approached with a scholarship to attend the Gifted Academy (a school mainly for Idols and Fringes), the four Idols who also attend the school vow to drive her away even as they feel inexplicably drawn to her.

This was better than I expected and I’m not even sure what I expected!  It’s definitely entertaining and I find myself wanting more detail about the powers of the Idols and Fringes which this didn’t get into too much.  There is some bullying elements but not as much as I was prepared for.  Some steam, but not overboard!  I’ll definitely continue with the series to see how it pans out.
