An OK read. It's essentially 13 short stories told by mystery enthusiasts, none of whom matter except Miss Marple. The mysteries vary in intrigue. Some are really clever and well-thought out; some feel labored and stitched together. The basic formula each story follows is: someone tells the story of a mystery they know, the group guesses incorrectly for the answer, Miss Marple gets it right. Because the formula isn't strayed from, the pages in each chapter dedicated to OTHER character's guesses feel like a waste of time. Why bother reading something that is incorrect and contributes nothing to enrich the story?

Just OK.

Wonderful hodgepodge of Ms Marple, and it's lovely to see recurring characters.

I adore Miss Marple, and I think The Thirteen Problems is my favourite of all her outings! The premise is ridiculous, but that's precisely why I adore it. She's a little old lady with no experience of life beyond her tiny insignificant village, and yet that's all she needs to solve every strange and mysterious case thrown her way. I love her.
