Masterfully humanizes and narrativizes the trait of idealism, putting it into conflict with its reality and seeing what it does to the ideals and the man who holds them. Also a deep and interior depiction of war, especially righteous war, and it’s impact on its foot soldiers. Remarkable in its scope and depth.

There were graphic descriptions of war along with graphic descriptions of a tongue-in-mouth kiss.  I have a feeling this book will eventually take an entirely unwanted turn.
