Promising story, questionable execution

I feel like the characters had so much promise and depth to them, but that wasn’t explored. This whole world felt like there was so much more to be explore within this couples story but it was ignored. It was a shame because I felt like this story had sososo much potential to be really impactful but it fell short.

A good example of this phenomenon is Beat’s rape. I felt like it was handled poorly and not explored properly like it should have been. If you’re going to include rape within your plot I feel like as the author, you have a duty to give the proper space and time to that trauma but it felt shallow to me. Beat’s emotions after the initial incident felt raw and true to what it feels like. But in other chapters it would be like nothing happened and it felt like it wasn’t a priority of the author to give proper page time to the content.

Overall, I would say that I liked this book, but I’m really disappointed with the execution.

In typical Amo fashion this book is disturbing, sexy, raw, and perfect. Manik and Beat are yin and yang and balance each other perfectly. His dark and her light shines the path. The characters are both terrifying and intriguing. The story is tense and will definitely hold your attention. If you like dark romance this is for you!
