This is the second time this novella has been published and I'm pleased with the changes the editorial team came up with for this new edition from a new publisher. The story is all the stronger for it. I'm re-reading my own series right now because it's time to get to brass tacks on writing book 4 and after a two-year hiatus on writing this series, a refresher course is in order.

Friend or Foe pleases me with the introduction of a point of view for Cindy Liu, the villain of book 1. The complicated friendship between Patricia and Cindy continues to be one of my favorite themes in this series. You might think that superhero stories would be simple, black-and-white explorations, but every time I work with these characters, they take me deep into murky waters of friendship and feminism.

I think readers will connect with Patricia's combination of guilt and denial and enjoy watching her grow across the books.
