So as a quick warning. You definitely should read the original three princes book for the context of this entire series. For the entire universe the author has written. I read all three of the first books and was still lost in this story about where everyone fit. The book was good, the spicy scenes were top tier. I love the world building that comes with this series and the characters always get my heart in the end. Would’ve loved to see more combat, and understood what brought the fae kings back.(maybe it’s in another connected series) the FL in this story did tick me off the littlest of bits but she made up for it. The ML was one of my favorites!

3.5 Stars rounded to four. Will start off by saying that I didn't read any of books in the first series. I honestly found the book about Mananan first and was going to read that, but figured I'd start with the first in this series. Thankfully it wasn't too confusing coming midway into a story. However, I did feel there were too many people/characters into the story which detracted from the story. I felt like the author just wanted to throw all those people in there to keep nodding to the previous series even though only one or two people actually contributed to the story.
I didn't care for Chrissy who is the FMC, she just came off as really annoying and indecisive, which was frustrating since she is almost 40 years old. A lot of these characters (who I'm going to assume are pretty close in age -- the humans not the Fae) came off as childish which was off putting.
Oberon was the only redeeming factor in this book and the only reason why I didn't give up on this book because I did think of it a few times.

I really liked returning to this world. It was great to see new characters and new problems that needed solving.
I liked the character list at the end. It's been a little while since I read any books by this author and set in this world so it took me a few chapters to remember the characters and their roles.
Chrissy was a great character. She's fierce and independent and while she didn't like Oberon initially, she soon realised they had a connection.
The magic used by Chrissy and Oberon was interesting. I'd like to know more about the Fomorians and I have a feeling that they'll be back.
I did manage to predict the plot twist but I still enjoyed the build up and the reveal.
The pacing was just right and I finished reading this book in one sitting.
I can't wait to read the next book.
