I love the Mercy Thompson (sorry, Hauptman) books, and this one is one of my favorites. I enjoyed the story line, and Christy added nice dimensions of tension. Highly recommended, though I don't think it would work well as a stand-alone.

Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite authors and the Mercy Thompson series never fails to be a good read. This book was not my favorite by her but I did still like it quite a lot.
