DNF... stopped at 18%. Synopsis was promising, but I can’t force myself to go any further.

What a bunch of discombobulated bullshit. Gah and I am only 35% done! Does it get better? I certainly hope so. It is aimless and confusing and just plain stupid so far. Ok I finished it...WTF was that crap?! Seriously I don't think I understood any of it. Why did a 17yr old have to marry? Why act like a bonbon when she isn't? Why isn't she diabetic with all the freakin lollipops?! So much stupidity stuffed into one book and I still could not tell you what the heck it was about.

There were parts I loved but some to me were confusing. Some things mentioned I totally did not understand until the end and not in a good way. But some conversations were so hard for me to follow and understand. Probably my own brain not getting it it but also so many glares. It seemed everyone that spoke started with a glare. I don't really understand the history or purpose of the academy, I don't understand the darkside at all. But I am attached enough to want to read the next in the series. I'm hoping a lot more clicks into place. I actually really like the characters and they're growing on me. Also want to see what happens with Penny and Drake.

I found this entire series.... Bewitching. Everything was so delightfully upside down. I'm usually a fan of things being fairly straight forward. I like to understand the motivations of at least the main characters, but this was NOT that. I didn't understand WHY they did just about anything and yet they were so engaging and despite the motivations being twisted it wasn't impossible to follow (most of the time motivations being a mess makes a book next to impossible to understand - yet somehow Whicker managed to pull this off)
The name is prefect... It was sweet but dark. I've never read anything like it - and that's saying something, because I read incessantly!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
