I loved the way these four plays came together and told a story about the different griefs people can experience. I especially loved hekabe. There was something so real about the revenge still not soothing the grief for her

Nothing to say. Euripides rarely disappoints, Anne Carson never disappoints.
I'm glad I finally got to read these translations.

Grief, from one's own hands to the hand's of the perceived enemy, is the beautiful fixation of this collection and Anne Carson translates Euripedes into such modern and deeply human writings.

The way I finished this before realising that the "It's rotten work" play isn't in here... unbelievable.

Truly, if anything, this particular rating is due to my ambivalent feelings towards Euripides' work. Carson's various musings on his writing, however, are rather insightful and at times mesmerising. I would recommend her translation -- if not Euripides himself -- for that alone.
