I think the book is objectively good, unfortunately I just couldn't get invested enough to see it through to the end. There were a couple of character perspectives that I was interested in, such as Shae and Anden, but I found it hard to relate to or get invested in some of the other characters. I think many people would love this book, it's just not for me.

This book is so good it was hard to put down at times. Whether you stay for the interesting world or magic or for the gang war itself, you are bound to be impressed by Fonda Lee's writing and style. Each one of her characters is so distinct you can almost sniff them off of the page and the same can be said for the city itself. Anyone who enjoys the Godfather, politics, or straight up violence will not regret picking up this series.
