I'm admittedly a sucker for a girl who knows a thing or two about tools so from page 1, I was already sucked in. The art style calls to mind a superhero comic with some paneling, sound effects, bold colors, and more. It even captures beautifully the feel of a California neighborhood. There is history, love, familiarity, and home in the pages of this truly stunning picture book.

So much happens in this short book. On the surface level, Daisy and her dad zoom around a neighborhood, vrooming and making lots of sound effects with a blue blur behind them. At the same time, the book demonstrates the importance of family and community; showing a community that's changing due to development and likely gentrification. It shows construction, and the closure of Daisy's favorite raspado shop. And, it also shows how murals, shops, and neighbors preserve and share the community's culture. It'd make for great talking points with older kids about how places change. I loved this!

This book takes you for a ride along with a little girl growing up and seeing how fast time goes by as her neighborhood changes. It’s a great book for children to learn about enjoying life as children and with the people they live because time flies.

A great personal narrative text, with an author’s not that will make a great artist statement mentor.

About a little girl who rides a motorcycle with her dad. Her dad is an immigrant. Has diversity and will have children that are immigrants or their parents are they can relate to it. Has very good illustrations! Definetly will have in my classroom.

Wonderful illustrations. Look into a city and culture of a Latin American father and daughter. Only thing is- not great for reading out loud as the pages are pretty wordy.
