Empire of Lust was absolute fire! Kingsley and Aspen were entertaining as enemies and even more as lovers. I was hoping that they were get their own story ever since I had read Empire of Desire, which is their daughter's story, and I was definitely not disappointed.

I am behind in writing my reviews since I was on a short vacay, so I may not write as much as usual…🤣🤣🤣

I was really let down by the previous book in this series, but this one was everything I wanted and more from Rina. I was very intrigued by Aspen’s history and her backstory was so devastating. I think there were good flashbacks from the night Aspen had a one-night stand with Kingsly. There was the perfect amount, and it helped the story.

Aspen and Kingsley have a contentious and complicated relationship, due to their past. Kingsley raised their daughter on his own and hates Aspen. He doesn’t want her to be involved in his daughter’s life, but Aspen is determined to build a relationship with her. I loved watching her daughter slowly start to trust and open up to Aspen.

Kingsley can’t stop his attraction and unresolved feelings for Aspen, and they start an enemies with benefits relationship. These two had undeniable chemistry and the sex was off the charts hot in this book. Aspen is such a badass and dominant woman in her day-to-day life, but she is a submissive in the bedroom for Kingsley, and I loved it.

I loved how possessive and obsessed King was with her. I really loved watching Aspen and King fall for each other and realize they are endgame. This was such a great book and I really fell for these characters. The epilogue was so precious!

I loved this book, Aspen is actually so strong and an icon I love her, I would do the exact same in some of the situations she was put in. Kingsley my man I love him too but I don’t feel like his background was talked about much, like I totally understand why Aspens background was talked about more because she has gone through so much and it’s how everything with gwen happened but I think Kingsleys past should have been talked about more cause we didn’t hear much about his mum or dad, only really his evil step mum. I love Gwen and Callie their both sweethearts

As always, in the author’s inimitable style, this story is full of passion, darkness, forbidden feels, regret and bitterness. Also a ton of revenge!

The first part of the book was a little difficult to read because the author used a convoluted style, very intricate, it felt like the conversation was going in circles and full of insults and innuendos between Aspen and Kingsley. It truly was starting to get old. The hate between Aspen and Kingsley is strong and their bickering is constant. I truly didn’t see how they would ever get along! Kingsley’s attitude was like a little spoiled boy, petulant, demanding what he wanted, and having a fit when it was denied. When they finally started to feel the chemistry, again, it was like the taming of lions, they are both so fierce. There’s a darkness within Kingsley, it feels like a potent force that if unleashed could be violent. And yet, Aspen was never afraid of him, and indeed seemed to have the key to unravel his storms.

From slightly puzzling we get to the real, steamy, passionate part of the story and here is where the author surged in the narrative and gave us a riveting story of love/hate, mixed in with the mutual love they both have for their daughter Gwen. There’s danger and I loved seeing Kingsley get uber-protective and Aspen so determined to keep the danger away from her daughter.

King’s attitude towards his best friend/son-in-law is ferocious, his fantasies of all the violence he wants to commit against Nate were a little infantile, but comic and cute. I hurt for Aspen and the yearning she feels for her daughter, to get near, to have a chance to love her. There are parts when I cried because Aspen had a very hard life that shaped the woman she is. To watch her try to soften her edges and show her daughter affection was heartbreaking.

So I can say that Rina Kent did the impossible. Made enemies fall in love but not in your usual sweet way. Their style is ferocious and wild, it involved kink, hickeys, and a desire for domination. It’s riveting, enthralling, and incredibly emotional. I loved it!
