I found this such an easy and fun book to read, I kept being surprised by how immersed I was and how much time had passed. I can only recommend from my heart to read this book instead of/ before watching the film.
Everyone is pretty in this, which might be my only criticism of this book. It is hopelessly optimistic, but I find I do not care. Do not read this for realism, read this for hope.
Anyways.
History, huh?

I really liked the book!
My heart is full of love for this characters.

If not for unrealistic situations and moments that felt like a fanfic, it'd definite be 5-star read.

This book is a fun read if you want something light and soft. I read it because of the movie coming out recently, I wanted to see what it was like comparatively and wasn’t disappointed. It’s cheesy, it’s cute, it’s a rom-com through and through. If you liked the movie, the book has so much more to offer! The movie does it’s best to bring it to life and the actors surely captured the essence, but I’d highly recommend reading the book! It has complexities and very good characters that deserve to be read.

I watched the movie before reading the book (the movie motivated me to read it).
Both the movie and the book should be treated as two separate entities. I liked some and disliked some stuff from each and they both had major differences.
The politics felt shallow and superficial in how it was explored in this book (considering it takes place in an ideal world with less bigotry?)and the writing got too fanfictiony in some places. However, the cheesy romance was nice to read. It was a good detox from reality to escape into a somewhat fantasy world where everything works out fine politically.
