And I'm done with this series. It just kept going downhill. The writing style was not my favorite. And how quickly Angel gave into Reece... Nope. That dude held a grudge for THOUSANDS of years. You gotta make him put more effort in.

4.25 - I loved being back in the Shadow Beast World and seeing the gang again. Angel and Reece's story is an emotional one of past love, family, loss and grief, but most of all hope and healing. A lot of sass, swearing and action is had, with a few tears thrown in.

I am looking forward to Simone and Lucien's story.

Quotes-

'I was important for more reasons than just keeping the balance and saving worlds.
I had a family again, and I liked to think that the reason death had passed me by, was to give me a chance to really live my life. Maybe they thought I deserved this second chance.'

'...I felt more at peace. And if I'd learned anything in my long life, it was that often, peace trumped power. Power could be stolen, earned and rewarded. It was everywhere for the taking.
But peace… was far harder to come by.'

'"Surprised he's let you out of arm's reach to sit here with me."
She wasn’t out of his sight, though; Shadow and .... The friends were chatting, but it was clear where both their focuses were: right on this bench.
"He could be here in a heartbeat and we both know it, so I'm never really out of his arm's reach."
I turned back to Mera. "Doesn't that bother you?"
She shrugged. "You know, I thought it would, but I actually want to be with him all the time. He gets me, and I feel complete when he's nearby. In the end, Shadow can roar and throw fire and act like a possessive Neanderthal, but we all know I have the true power. He loves me, and I’ve never known another who’d work so hard to give me everything I’ve ever dreamed of or desired. What woman wouldn't want to be worshipped by a dangerously gorgeous @#%# of a man?"'

I thought this would be an almost enemies ot lovers on a couple we have seen in the original trilogy, we knew they had history and emotions, and I couldn't wait to explore it.

Sadly, for most of this book, we still got our couple from the original trilogy. Mera was mentioned and on page so many times I forgot this book was about Angel and Reese at some points. Don't get me wrong, I love Mera, but I wasn't expecting to see her on page as much in a story that was advertised as a different couple.

The whole pregnancy trope throughout this book just wasn't for me. I thought this would be an almost enemies ot lovers on a couple we have seen in the original trilogy, we knew they had history and emotions, and I couldn't wait to explore it.

Don't get me wrong, what we did see of Reese and Angel I loved! I liked that they came to an understanding and built from that. Yes, they had history, but they didn't let it define them. The overall stakes of the story were interesting, but again, we're semi based on saving the world for Mera's sake ( and everyone else's but mostly Mera's)

“Let’s go with it. Shadowshine and DesertAngel. Fucking perfect.”

Deserted is a second chance, best friend to enemies to lovers romance. I loved Reese and his Lale together, even more so than Mera and Shadow.

When the Gods are awoken, it’s time for the Desert God and the rest of the merry band of assholes (and their mates) to save the world…. Again. Deserted at times has me laughing out loud and at other times crying both happy tears and sad.

I think Deserted could be read as a standalone but it would be more enjoyable reading Mera and Shadows books first.

This was great look back into the shadow beast shifters world. I would have liked more focus on Angel and Reece, but it was still a great story. I was glad to finally know what happened between them. The romance is

I didn't love this like I thought I would. Perhaps I had just built the anticipation up too much, but it lacked the expected tension.
