Spoiler
The midnight library is reminiscent  of (what is a must-watch Christmas movie for my family) ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. The protagonist views their life through their own failings and the what-could-have-been’s and wishing themselves out of existence. Only to realise, with the help of a guardian (Angel or otherwise) that their mistakes and missed opportunities have allowed for them to help others in a butterfly effect capacity so that no other life of fame, fortune, success or otherwise can have any appeal.
Nora was a deeply relatable character, and I found myself routing for her from the start. The themes of us being who we are and that striving for the most adventurous or celebrated life wouldn’t let us actually fulfil our potential. To do so we need time, to make our choices and live with no regrets because every decision has led us to where we are now, and there are so many more decisions to make to get us to where we were always meant to be.
