The start was a slug, the middle was decent and the end literally ruined the book for me I hated it . This book likes to run itself around, let you know whats gonna happen in 55 years but wait, not yet, you have to go through all this first. The first time that happened charming. The 10th time ? Fucking annoying. I understand that some of the descriptions were not made to be pleasant and sexy but reading some of them just made me go ew. Also what is this guys fascination with incest ? I don't have much else to say other than it was confusing because I never knew what generation was talking and when I thought I forgot about someone oh no look again theyre back to die. I finished it. But fuck I hate it.

I love Gabriel Garcia Marquez so much, and magical realism is definitely one of my favorite literary styles. This book is captivating as a human story and political in ways that I didn’t appreciate when I was younger. It would have been one that I keep on my shelves to re-read over the years, but I’ve got to say, (idk if this is considered a spoiler or a warning) the incest, rape and child molestation were too much for me.

Not my vibe. Might try to pick it up again at a later date but I struggled to follow the story or be invested in the characters.
