I am loving this series so much! I cannot wait to read the last one. I need to know all the things. I just love the dragons. Mira is so awesome and I love Aruo.

This book broke my heart. I cannot get enough of this universe and the ending was devastating. I cannot wait to start the final book in the trilogy.

Don't take my slow reading pace on this as indicative of anything. I really don't know why it took me so long, aside from the fact that I would prefer to read a book this size in e-book so that I don't have to drag it around.

I would be curious to hear people's feedback on how this book handles the results of colonialism. It's definitely not shying away from it, and it looks good to me, but I'm a white woman, and I'm far from an expert.

I'm so grateful that Mira wasn't miraculously cured of her anxiety at the end of the first book. That would've made me quite angry.

This wasn't too interesting, although it was definitely better than the first installment.

The second book in the Fallen Isles Trilogy is even better than the first! Mira is learning how to control her newfound power and influence over noorestones and the dragons. She is also trying to figure out her feelings for Aaru while also being respectful of his cultural beliefs and customs.

There are many more dragons this time around, especially now that Mira is learning to control her powers. They sense her emotions and she can feel theirs, which causes some problems down the road. Her relationship with her allies continues to grow, and her relationship with Aaru continues to blossom.

THERE IS A KISS, PEOPLE. I REPEAT: THERE IS A KISS. And it is glorious and romantic and my heart ached it was so happy to finally see them together after everything they had gone through to get there.

But now the Great Abandonment may be more than just a story. The islands are rising, causing major earthquakes and setting the dragons off into panicked frenzies. I cannot wait to see where the story goes in the finale, When She Reigns. I definitely plan on rereading the series again next autumn when the last book is expected to be released. I am just so in love with these characters and am invested in their stories and so curious to see what will happen to the islands and the people on them. 2019 can't come soon enough!
