This book was a waste of my time and put me in a reading slump I still haven't recovered from (I read this in January/February). I honestly think this was Wattpad published. In this book we follow a girl who's a siren and she's not like other girls because she hates being a siren and she fell in love and other girls can't do that. It was honestly the mopey-est writing ever and it made me so uncomfortable how the Ocean was personified to be like a mother/clingy girlfriend/boss. If you want to read something of Kiera Cass's, stick to The Selection and don't put yourself in a slump like I did.

I really did enjoy this book. Such a quick and easy read. This is my first book by Kiera Cass. Although other books by this author are waiting in my shelves, I just felt like reading a standalone novel. This book was not a disappointment!

I really liked the plot, it is interesting and makes us want to keep reading. The girls are very relatable, their behaviours, wants and needs are well befitting their ages. The love story is very adorable, innocent and young. I also appreciate the way the story explores the love/hate relationship between the girls and Ocean - Ocean is portrayed as being good and bad, cruel and kind, possessive and understanding the same amount.

The only negative thing that I can point is the way the ending is rushed. I spent so much time watching Kahlen being depressed and making everyone around her miserable, and towards the end, when we needed a little more time do process everything that is happening, the plot just moves along so quickly that I think that some of the magic is stolen from the readers
