I liked reading this book, and I thought it was satisfying, but I’m just not sure how memorable it will be which is why I withheld a star. I really loved Yunjae as a protagonist and hearing the story through his detached voice was a unique experience.

Everything I’d known seemed different, and all the words I spat out with ease wandered awkwardly at the tip of my tongue. 

A wonderful exploration of adolescence that astonishingly puts you in every character’s shoes. Includes one of the most touching passages about love I have ever read, despite this not being the main focus of the book.

This book destroys the meaning of ratings. Every other book I've rated 5 stars looks like a selfish diary entry by comparison. This is life transcribed in a book, and yet you turn your head and it also becomes the most beautiful collection of words I've ever seen strung together. Seriously guys the writing style is so beautiful and the characters are even better please give this a chance

a very catcher in the rye-esque story. its super fast paced, and sohn has a command for tone and characterization. i especially love the use of metaphors with the almonds and the plum candies. i just wanted more almond metaphor in the end to tie it all up.
