I DNF this. I felt it wasn't well written and the jokes about culture were just kind of dumb. It had its moments. That said, I went to to read some other books in the series.

This is really more like a 3 1/2 star book for me. I love detective stories, and I liked Harry, the detective in this book. Most of the time, this plot kept my interest. But about halfway through, it seemed to derail itself... The original murder victim seemed forgotten and the focus seemed to be on some side stories. It was closed up at the end, but in a somewhat awkward way. I am going to continue with the series, though, and see how the other ones are.

I got bored half way through. The "fish out of water" gags were funny for a while, but became trite after a while and there was nothing to keep me interested in the murder investigation. I don't generally read mysteries, so this may explain my lack of patience.
