End of the this series for me.

Had high hopes this would be better but it was not.

The first part of the book felt like a huge recap of the first book which shouldn’t be required or maybe it was just done terribly.

I enjoy the sci fi facts and bits and bobs but the mystery plot component just fell flat for me.

I actually preferred this one to the first! Clever and funny.

I wasn't as invested in this one as the first. For some reason, this one felt a little more lackluster... It was still fun, and the way the lines all come together is satisfying. But throughout the story I got confused a few times, and then I actually figured out who the killer was pretty easily (which is not normal for me). So it was fine, just a fun little mystery but it took a decent amount of attention to keep up.

I both love and hate Tina. Lol

As a fan of both mystery and spec, I enjoy this book more if I think of it as a science fiction book where some people get killed than if I think of it as a cozy mystery set in space. The approach is too haphazard for a truly satisfying mystery. But as a frothy space opera where wild sh*t is always happening that just happens to include some murders that need solving, it's pretty fun.

These books are so much fun.
I really love spending time with these characters. Adore Mallory and Xan, really like the different alien species and the diversity. It's like Becky Chambers ... on crack and with more murder. So much is happening; everything is chaos and confusion, but in the end, everything still fits together and makes sense. Can't wait to continue with the series next year.
