Cheesy but I loved it. I adored the characters and the small-town story. One star taken off for writing

This was a really cute book. It was an original idea - I love Batter Up night. I also liked reading about the small town of Buttermilk Falls. I would recommend this book, it is a nice, light, fun read.

I seem to keep choosing the fade to black/ morality undertones romances. I don't need sexy times to enjoy a book but sometimes it takes away from the story when you cannot get a sense of the couples connection because of the fade to black.
I liked the "magical" elements but the characters were all such cliches that I did not find any of them relatable. The ex and the best friend were just ridiculous. They were just thrown in to round out the story along with her father mystery. I just could not care less about any of the characters. Her mother not sharing info about her dad was also grating.
I can see why many people would enjoy this book but for me it was a hot mess and not for me.

The story is cute and predictable, but still a fun read. It you're wanting descriptive intimate scenes then look elsewhere but if you're wanting a lighthearted feel-good romance with characters that are both charming and intelligent then this book might be one you'd enjoy. I will be honest in that I initially didn't think Jason was good enough for Emma but his story grew on me and his imperfections are part of what makes him better for her than her ex. Still not 100% on board with some of his decisions or the way he treated her early on but she set him straight and that's what matters. I wouldn't mind stopping by Buttermilk Falls and seeing a bit of the magic swirling around because we could all enjoy watching magic happen ... even if it isn't directed our way.
