This would have been a 5 star read if it weren’t for the last 50 pages or so. A completely unexpected and nonsensical character development absolutely ruined it for me. Still, it was a timely read and a page-turner.

Figured I should read a book about plague at some point in 2020, itself a Year of Wonders. A very engaging story with a couple of intriguing characters and a sense of time and place that captivated me.
