My issue with this book is I simply don't like Lestat all too much. I find it really irritating how everybody loves him, how perfect he is (BUT OH HE ISN'T PERFECT!!! BECAUSE HE BREAKS RULES!!!), and so it's a lot of suffering to put up with him. But I know this is an unpopular opinion and of course with how adored he is even in our world, of course he would take up so much space in this story. But why is everybody so obsessed with him? We just don't know. I know I don't get it. Rice's writing doesn't help me either. It tries very hard to be Good and it isn't bad, but the amount of trying to come off as Beautiful Prose grates on you. There's something endearing about it, though.
However, the stories from everybody else made this better. Anne Rice can make really interesting characters, such as the relationship between Daniel and Armand. I couldn't put the book down at their parts and also at Jesse and Maharet. Their parents alone won the book over for me. Even Akasha was an interesting character.
A lot of things in this book are not my cup of tea and that's okay.

However, Akasha's awakening throws what we think Akasha should be against what she is and what she plans to do, now that she has awakened.
As always, this is a masterpiece of character development, and a reflective person could undergo a great spiritual search from reading this book...if he/she was so inclined.
