This book contains a really cool sci-if horror concept that is safe enough for all ages readers without removing all of the teeth from it. My only complaint is that the set-up felt very rushed and oddly paced. I think the author was trying to get it out of the way so they could get to the juicier parts. There’s a lot of backstory info dumping in the middle mixed in with the current plot that could have been mixed in better.

It’s a really fun read and a creative horror idea, just needed a bit better execution.

This is a 'Stranger Things' fan read-alike if I ever saw one! I expected this book to be fun, I did not expect it to revolve around a science experiment and ethics that would actually make this a great book discussion title for a middle school book club.
