Dang man this was an exciting book about kids going on Everest like all of the events of Into Thin Air just never happened and it's totally cool to put kids on a dangerous mountain and all of the kids are Hardcore, kind of want to read the rest of the trilogy...

This is the first of a series where young teens compete for a chance to climb Mt.Everest. The beginning caught my attention and the ending was a nail bitter, but the middle in the Summit Training was long. It was a lot of one kid being mean to all the others because he had a chip on his shoulder. It was an overall ok book.

About what I'd expect from Gordon Korman (it's not my first time reading him and his formula doesn't change that much).
Good characters.
Interesting story.
Incredibly unbelievable though - there is nothing in this book that would make me remotely believe that this would happen and that's a problem in a book like this because you just never feel like anything bad would happen (it does) because it's so unrealistic.

It was a fun hour out of my life but not much more (glad I got this out of the library instead of paying money for it)

I read this series, as well as some of Korman's others, when I was in elementary school. I remember really loving how these books were written. This book is fats-paced, and I remember loving that a character named Sammi was going to the top of Everest. It didn't work out for this class book project, but maybe another time!

Reread once my exams were over- something about being out of school reignites my love for reading and returning to old childhood favourites. I used to be obsessed with all things Everest and mountaineering. This was a quick little read that took me down memory lane and was a delight to revisit. Prevalent themes are friendship, teamwork, perseverance despite the odds, and believing that one is capable of things bigger than themselves.

These books are, on the surface, pretty simple and straight forward. You take a bunch of kids with serious problems that they're usually hiding, throw them all together and then throw them all into intense natural environments. And then stuff goes down. But nevertheless, I really enjoy these books. I did like this series less than the Island series, but they're still quite good and I've read them each several times.
