Picked this out for my mom’s birthday based on the NPR Book Concierge recommendation system as it seemed like something my mom would like. As luck would have it, she loved it, and now I’ve read it too.

What an intricately woven book, with overlapping stories following the journey of one family and the key people who crossed their paths. Books of this nature can be heavy-handed in how they make the threads fall in line, and I appreciated the subtlety in Van Booy’s storytelling.

A very well-crafted book full of people trying their best in many ways, and getting through life as we all try to. A great read.

I enjoy how Simon Van Booy creates characters and images, but most of all how he weaves together the stories of various people over several years. A beautiful story with characters I will not forget.
