This was a pretty good story, but I had a really hard time falling into the characters. Charley was a little too secretive - especially to me as a reader. I can understand her not wanting the world to know her past, but I got a little frustrated that I didn't understand why - because I didn't know what the secret was about. There's some hints along the way, but I was blind-sided when I found out what it really was.

Jude also has secrets. There were just too many of these to go around for me. His are just as deep seated and this becomes a case of two broken people making a whole once they put their pieces together. They are quite on again and off again, but it a very strange sort of way since they aren't ever "officially" on to begin with.

I wanted to have more of a personal connection to the characters, but I just never found it until the very end. I did enjoy that several of the side characters were well developed and I really enjoyed them throughout the whole story.

Usually I love R.S Grey novels, this one not so much. Don't get me wrong I loved the sexy story of Charley and Jude and their hot and steamy romance. But there was just so much build up of sexual tension, and then it just dissipated. Then they both had such evil demons affecting their relationships and prevented them from moving forward constantly , then it seemed like they had a quick chat and they could move on.

I loved the story, it was a unique plot but it was a let down. I was expecting a bit more from the story.

Definitely my least favorite R.S Grey novel. For the first 75% of the book I felt like I didn't know anything about the main characters aside from the fact that they each felt their attraction to each other was forbidden for some mysterious reason.

R. S. Grey has an okay writing style, but sometimes it gives me the chills and makes me roll my eyes more than I want to. At times she’s just trying too hard and it sounds so childish and annoying, as if I am reading the POV of a 9-year old and not of a 23-year old or 27-year old.

The author tried to make Jude appear sexy and alluring, but it was over the top and Jude winded up being totally undesirable. Sex wasn’t even that good. Ugh.

I can’t. I don’t even know why I tried to convince myself that this would be good. Boring as hell; I was 71% into the story and NOTHING interesting had really happened. The drama was so UNDRAMATIC.

Never reading R. S. Grey again, I didn’t like Scoring Wilder and I certainly did not like Behind His Lens.

First off can I just say how much I loved the high-fashion photographer and model angle

of the story. I loved the sensuality of that first photo shoot...so hot!

I really enjoyed reading along as Charley and Jude tried to navigate through their attraction and instant connection despite their desire to avoid any type of commitment.

Jude is super alpha but quickly becomes the sweetest guy when he realizes how much he wants to "keep" Charley.

Charley was a little slower on the uptake and did everything to avoid opening up to him.

How can they possibly make it works with the walls they've spent so much time building up?

Overall this story was sort of same old same old NA formula but done in a really great way. Since I'm a huge fan of said formula I'd recommend it to anyone who loves two broken protags who fall in love but stumble their way to a HEA.

*I received an ARC from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

TW: talk of suicide and alcoholism.

R S Grey does it again! Another fantastic book with incredible characters and an emotive storyline.
Also this is probably the steamiest of her books and I love a bit of smut with my romance!!
Charley was such a lovely character, shy and endearing but also broken and mysterious. Jude was an absolute dream of a man. Definitely a new book boyfriend!
I loved this book from start to finish. Another RS Grey triumph and I cannot wait to continue my reading of her back catalogue! I love having a new favourite author, especially when they have written so many books!!

"Behind His Lens" was another one of those books I didn't have to force myself through because it was a really quick read, but that just didn't leave a lasting impression and wowed me.

It took me some time to get into the novel and even though I started enjoying the story at some point, I also noticed how I started skimming it a lot during the last third of it. The plot was okay but just really unoriginal and like so many other contemporary romances I've read. I also didn't really like the main characters because they were just your typical characters that were absolutely drop dead gorgeous and super fit and just didn't have an interesting character. Thus I have to say that I also didn't care too much about the romance and I think that's what then made me begin skimming part of the book.

Nevertheless, it was still a quick read and I didn't hate it or anything. It had its good moments and also a few that really made me laugh. To be honest, I wasn't really sure what I should rate this and ultimately decided to go with Goodreads's rating system which says that 2 stars mean "it was ok" and that's pretty much exactly what I thought after I'd finished "Behind His Lens".

QOTD: Have you ever modeled?
My A: Heck No!! I prefer to be behind the camera taking pictures, but two of my sisters have done ad work for Gap and pageants.

What’s this? Another R.S. Grey novel on my timeline this month? I just can’t help it, I’m hooked! Finding an author whose writing just vibes with your reading mood is such a blessing and a curse. A blessing for obvious reasons, a curse because I have books I NEED to read but all I WANT to read are R.S. Grey books. This is my third book of hers, and my second favorite. Scroll down to see how I felt about my first two reads! A fast flowing, sexy read packed with emotion and two characters you can’t help but fall for, R.S. Grey delivered another fantastic novel! Two damaged characters both fighting their pasts to make a future together work, the angst and drama is just enough to keep you on your toes without breaching the immature line.

But what if she wants him to take charge outside of the studio as well? Jude Anderson has a strict "no model" dating policy. But everything about Charley sets his body on fire. When a tropical photo shoot in Hawaii forces the stubborn pair into sexually charged situations, their chemistry can no longer be ignored. They’ll have to decide if they’re willing to break their rules and leave the past behind or if they’ll stay consumed by their demons forever.
