This is the second book in Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's Pendergast series. It's a real twist on most of my reading. Supernatural mysteries that are very good reads. I'm glad there are several of these. This one was in part a continuation of the first one, same monsters that were all taken care of the first time. I'm interested to see what other types of monsters the authors come up with after this.

Fun, fast-paced read.
I enjoyed this second book of the Pendergast series. Took my mind off of reality for a while. I’ll probably continue.

I read this book ages ago..and wasn’t sure I would remember enough to continue on with the series…turns out I remembered the major plot twist. Still a really good novel with lots of adventure and intrigue.

didn't enjoy this one the second time around as much as I remembered but still a fun read and i did not, in fact, remember the most important twist
original
What can I say? It kept me entertained and interested and I wonder if the future books will go deeper into oddities or step back into a more traditional detective-thriller form. Time will tell (or has already told, but I'm late to the party)

Super compelling page turner - really loving this series! Not as much history as the first book in the series, but still highly enjoyable.

A strong sequel. I love the way the way they have designed the Kathoga. It was also fascinating to see the way they utilized the underground individuals and their society. This is also the book that introduces Laura Hayward!

While I didn’t like this as much as book 1, it was still really enjoyable. The narrator for the audiobook is different than book 1 which I also think hurt it for me, but I still thought it was the perfect mix of creepy and mysterious and fun. I’m interested to read more both in this series and from these authors.

I think this sequel is easily as good as the original. Such fast-pacing! Covers all the science and no discernible plot holes!
Also, the thought of all that underground world and the 5,000 people making up those communities is fascinating!
