Very solid book; more like 3.5 stars. I read it for bookclub but probably wouldn't have chosen it on my own. Good characters and story and I'm looking forward to the movie version.

Great fun. Curious how they will get on with all the IP owners for the film

Enjoyable read and I did like the way the book ended but after a while the never ending series of 80’s references was even wearing *me* down, and I love that damn decade.
I felt like Cline was elbowing me in the ribs as I was reading this going, “Huh, huh? Get it? Get it? Remember that?!”

This made my geeky heart so happy.
Also, the audio book narrated by Wil Wheaton: A+++

On second read: 3.5 / 5. A lot of mansplaining and eye-rollingly bad dialogue at times, but the overall plot, intricate details and action-packed ending make up for it.

For a person born in the 1970s and/or 1980s who is well versed in pop culture, this book is made for you. I loved all of the subtle (and not-so-subtle) references to all the games, comics, movies and books I grew up with, and it's a highly entertaining joyride that doesn't slow down at all.

Awesome book. Especially for people that love everything nerdy. The allusions to 80s pop culture and comics and video games and dungeons and dragons was great. Captivating story line. Great bad guy. Very metaphorical for corporations today.
