A fantastic horror story about gentrification of minority neighborhoods. Ezra Claytan Daniels delivers another solid graphic novel and this time takes a step back from art duties to just write it. Ben Passmore does a great job on the art. At first I didn’t dig the shape of the book, but the story worked in tandem with the format so it ended up being a plus.

Really enjoyed this one- couldn't put it down so I stayed up late last night reading. Lots of good talk about gentrification and white people being white people.

Graphic: Blood, Body horror, Death, Gore, Grief, Injury/Injury detail, Murder, Stalking, and Violence
Moderate: Racism, Kidnapping, and Medical content
Minor: Alcohol, Antisemitism, Fire/Fire injury, and Sexual content
This is a fascinating page-turner. However, I felt that the themes around gentrification were not as developed as other examples of gentrification-as-horror I've seen.ian_se's review

This is honestly one of the strangest things I’ve ever read and I have no idea how to rate it. I liked the concept and I love the “building is alive” trope, but it felt too short for me to really be invested in the characters.
Graphic: Body horror, Gore, and Death
Moderate: Fire/Fire injury and Racism
Minor: Toxic friendship
