I loved this book a lot and would recommend it highly. I loved the intersectionality and social justice and food sovereignty. What a good book. I went back and forth between reading the ebook version and listening to it on audio via Libby.

Loved the opening talk about mushrooms, got REALLY bored when we got into the mycology stuff. I imagine this would be more interesting if you were actually invested in studying mushrooms.

as a scientist, i really enjoyed this read! the chapter about microbiology was one of my favorites — it was one of my favorite classes in college for a reason! i loved all of the conversations about community, mutualism, and how marginalized communities like the bipoc and lgbtq communities draw parallels with fungi in ways people don’t realize. it took me an unbelievably long time to read this book because i felt the pace was really slow, but this was a great book aimed at a general audience about the fascinating and admirable world of fungi. highly recommend to anyone interested in coming together to better their community, ecosystem, and planet.
4/5 stars from me!!! (my copy had 278 pages of text and the rest of the book was journal citations and the index)

It was fine, if this had been the only fungi book that I had read, it would likely be higher. But I am comparing this against some really good entries in the category, and for that reason, it is only a 3. Which is still good. Just not great for me.
