It was boring and I wasn't interested in reading it.

I’ve read a majority of Elizabeth Chandler’s work, and I truly love her writing style and her characters. So I was very, very excited to read this installment in the Dark Secrets series. But to be honest, it wasn’t anything extraordinary. I feel as though it was a rehash of the previous Dark Secrets novels. I knew who the killer was long before it was revealed, and that ruined the ending of the story for me.

Elizabeth Chandler still has her distinct writing style, and her unique way of building characters and setting up a plot. But The Back Door of Midnight fell flat for me. There were some plot twists that I didn’t see coming, and those took me quite by surprise, though.

If you’ve read the first few books in the Dark Secrets series, then I do recommend reading The Back Door of Midnight. It’s not a bad book by any means, just a little predictable. I give this novel 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The last book in the Dark Secrets series. A series that was mainly a hit to me, with one exception.

Luckily this story was good. Mysterious murders, psychics and more!

Anna arrives at Wisteria to find out her Uncle died, and her Aunt being totally crazy. She is shocked but determined to find out the truth, especially since she had some dreams. Dreams that continue and even become out of body experiences.

Iris was really scary for most of the book, I also thought she was the one to kill Uncle William. Even though there was enough that said she wasn't. But since she lapsed out of present, past and future, often mixing them up, you never knew if she was the murder or had committed other crimes.

Anna was really great, I really liked her, how even though her Aunt is crazy and acted weird, she stayed and tried to find out who and what.

The conclusion was quite a surprise, maybe if I re-read this book I would notice, but I can say that until the end I didn't expect that that person was the criminal mastermind behind it all.

Also the romance, for once, was lovely and I was really pleased at the ending.

It’s nostalgic. Don’t judge.

It was different from the other books in the series a bit but it was interesting that the romance in this story was somewhat of an afterthought, and played a small role in the overall storyline.

This is my favorite one. I figured out the who, what and why a little less than halfway there but that didn't matter. I loved the story told in this one and the different things going on. Loved it.

It has a good pace and you're constantly engaged with what Anna is doing. The decriptions lack and are repetative to the point where you can get bored. There is more focus on the mystery then the phychic powers which disappointed me. Though I must give the author credit, the twist at the end was awesome.

I'll be real, the mystery in this is quite well written. I had no idea who the antagonist would be, having been offered so many different characters with so many different motives. It took me by surprise when it was revealed and made the last part of the book interesting and quickened the pace.
