This book was an insane roller coaster. Like… Wow.

Honestly though? I was right about a lot of it which is something I both love and hate. Since I was right, there wasn’t a whole lot of plot twists for me? But it was a good book nonetheless and a very good thriller.

Wow. I feel just awful sadness and horror after reading this book. It was horrific. I wasn’t aware of all the triggers going into this book, so reader beware. It was so heavy and dark, that’s all I can think about. Please check triggers before reading, I wish I did.

This is more than just a 4.5 star review! The read was dark, mysterious, emotional, and thrilling- however there were many points where the story was very predictable (hence the 4.5 not 5) as in I knew what the next plot twist was going to be.  Regardless, it is one of the most interesting stories I’ve read in a while and very much enjoyed how fast paced and easily digestible the content was.  Poppy is my favorite character of them all and I enjoyed the multiple viewpoints from the various characters.

SpoilerThis book absolutely devastated me, in a way I was not expecting or prepared for. First, it’s an excellent thriller from start to finish. The storytelling is layered, the characters are complex (not to mention deeply flawed), and the emotional pull only gets stronger as you move through the story, up to the very last words.

Other things I liked: the differences in narrative voice are very well done. Though the story begins to shape up fairly early (in the first third) I was still fully engaged throughout the rest, as answers only opened up more interesting  questions. The writing itself was also very lyrical and nice. Read this!
