Alexandra Riley expected it to be just another day, with coffee in hand for her and her father, she was ready to get to work at his auto shop. Alexandra had felt unsettled lately but figured it was just a passing feeling, until today when she found out who she truly was, a half-breed daughter of a powerful Alpha wolf. Before she has time to absorb that werewolf's are real, she has been thrown into the protective watch of Joshua Striker, an enforcer from the Wolf Creek Pack, who her father used to be Alpha for.

Joshua knows he has just met his mate, but customs have to be followed and he cannot take Alexandra until the other pack members have been able to meet her. She is not making it easy though, for she is ready to stake her claim on him and her stubborn, yet sexy sassiness, has Joshua worrying that he will not be able to protect her from others who are trying to claim her for their clans. In a rush the have to fight together to get her safely to her new home.

Excellent book, had a cat and mouse chase to the very end. The interaction between Alexandra and Joshua is fascinating, she is trying to understand this new world where she would be a submissive mate, but she is sassy alpha herself and has Joshua in fits trying to keep himself from claiming what she is willingly offering. A must read for shifter fans.

This book was recommended by my GR friend Kazzy and she was right since this was a great book. I read it in one setting and loved it. I loved the characters and can't wait to read the next one.

Too many clichés for me. And I have never been a fan of the uncontrollable sexual urge because you are a were/whatever and smell of arousal. I like a romance where the couple is actually attracted to each other because of who they are - characteristics, personality, and appearance ie the whole package. Not where they are both the same species, have sex and some how that is supposed translate into forever love. Not to me. And I hate the male dominated misogynistic rules of the werewolf pack. But if you don't mind these standard werewolf novel tropes then you may enjoy this one. Alex herself is likeable enough. I would have enjoyed it more if they got to wolf creek and she got to met and interact with more of the single wolves before picking her mate, perhaps then I would have felt like she chose him for who he is rather than because he was the first male wolf she met when she was in heat.

What did I just say about acquiring books in genres that don’t interest me? In my defense, it was a free book that I picked up about three or four years ago. Our heroine was raised by her dad, never knowing much about her mom. And it turns out she (the daughter) is descended from a line of werewolves. And we’re not even finished with the first chapter and the hero, also a werewolf, is in a testosterone battle with the dad about who can best protect. Yawn. DNF

When I read the preview of this book I thought it was going to be really good, so I gave it a chance.

It's about Alex are girl who lives with her father learning one day she is a half werewolf, and her father is a full blooded werewolf who kept this secret from her to protect her all her life. Now since she is coming in "heat" she needs a mate, and there are tons of single male werewolves out to find her to force her to be their mate.

The story line seemed pretty interesting at first, but then it just kind of fizzeled out after the first few chapters. I really liked Alex, she had a wonderful personality and I saw her as a very strong women. But she was the only thing I really enjoyed about this book.

Everything else just fell flat for me. I didn't like the way the relationship happened so quickly between Alex, and Joshua. I also didn't like how she all of a sudden knew things about werewolves when they hadn't been explained to her. I was majorly disappointed in this book. I did not enjoy it at all.

I really enjoyed the strong female inthis book and loved the story. The only thing that hung me up was how quickly the fell to each other and how well the "knew" each other after only a few hours

This book had some wonderful moments, a great alpha female, two hot sexy men, one, James, the father of the heroine, hope he gets his own hea, and the hero whose honor causes him to protect her from even his own desires until they reach their pack so she has a choice.
Alexandra Reilly finds out one morning that her father is a werewolf, and that she is going into heat. She is getting ready for her first change, and there rogue werewolves after her, some hoping to force her to mate with them, some trying to kill her because she was a half-breed.
Joshua Striker shows up just before the first attack, her father sends her off with him while he try to lead the rogues in a different direction from his daughter. Two days of running, fighting, having to kill hunters who are trying to wipe out the werewolves, other werewolves, including some from her father's pack, hiking through the woods - which Alex, as a city girl, has never been in before - they finally meet up with Jousha's brothers and James and to the pride and astonishment of Joshua she proves herself at every turn, never complaint and always ready to move forward.
A good book, some really slow bits, but for the most part the story line kept moving forward toward the the characters goal of reaching their pack compound, getting rid of the traitors, and for Alex, getting a good hot shower and a seriously good night sleep.

DNF. Repetitive writing. Lackadaisical plot. Strong but clueless heroine. Good hero. No chemistry, no spark between them.
