I love the idea of this one (someone gets into murky legal/ethical territory as a result of their own character but also partly due to their susceptibility to the nefarious charms and influences of someone in their orbit who seems to keep showing up.) I did not love the execution of it. The jumps in time and pov did not bring me closer to the drama or to any deepening sense of character. In terms of everything I've read, this is below two stars, but I can imagine it being someone's cup of tea so I went for the average rating here (and to be honest, I was so un-engaged in the latter third that my cursory "let's find out what happens at the end" reading doesn't qualify me for assigning a grade any more raving or damning.
