Parts of this book were interesting. But honestly, by the time I finished part two it was clear that this book could only have been by someone who assumes he will always be taken at face value and believed.

The section on sexual assault and the questioning of whether the system that allows dangerous men to get away with their actions was particularly hard to read. This is why we have bystander training and mandatory reporting. And yes, if a leader leans into assuming truth, takes no action, and is devastatingly wrong there should be consequences.

Again, parts were thought provoking. Especially the use of technology, but as we know with the growth of AI, it is only as good as the humans that program it and the data/information/parameters provided.

It was an interesting exploration of what Gladwell considers a lack of empathy, understanding, and making assumptions and where that gets us as a society (i.e. our inability to talk to strangers effectively).  Another theme explored is history of policing and crime, as well as the concept of “coupling” - association of places and actions/activity.

Didn’t enjoy this one as a whole, especially with his analysis of the Sandusky and Brock Turner cases. Do not recommend.

I wanted to like this book but was overall disappointed. It was heavier than I expected it to be and I found myself more frustrated at the analytical storytelling to horrific things than learning or understanding the actual analysis.  In my humble opinion, quite literally any of his other books are better.

This was one of the worst takes on sexual assault I have ever read and it made me so disgusted

This book is interesting although it is different than I expected after reading the summary. I enjoy learning about psychology and there were some interesting points made in the book that will stick with me. But boy. This book is dark. Graphic descriptions of terrible things. I just had to stop.

Just actually awful. The most cookie cutter pseudoscientific crap I have ever had to read on top of borderline apologia for SA and child abuse. No idea why my university made an entire freshman year read this awful book.
