Sadly this was another highly anticipated sequel that left me wanting. Infinity Courts was in my top ten of 2021 and earned 4.5/5 from me. It definitely had some Second Book Syndrome going on. I did enjoy jumping back into the world, because it's one of my favorite fictional worlds and is absolutely cinematic! I still enjoyed it while I was reading (the narrator is awesome, too!), it just wasn't as epic as the first book was and that makes me super bummed.
However, THAT ENDING!!! What a doozy of an ending! I can't wait to see how things turn out in the next book!

I really loved the first book in this series (and basically anything else that Bowman has written) i don't think this book is as good as the first (i wasn't as interested in the first half) but the second half really turned it around for me and I ended up really liking it

it was a very fast paced set up book. i enjoyed the world building a lot, however i found the two twists at the end unsatisfying. the first was predictable and the second was unnecessary.

This series is something I keep thinking about. It is so great conceptually and where it falls short, it picks itself up through wonderful characters and an interesting world. Just the idea of an afterlife of war where you can die and people are constantly fighting to take back their peace is so incredibly interesting and moving. I love it

This second installment in The Infinity Courts series begins ten months (not sure how they can track time in the afterlife?) after the first novel. We are still following Nami, and she is still recovering after the heinous betrayal in the first novel and losing important people in her life.
Naturally, she is “training” to rescue her friends and build strength in more ways than one. This leads to the first quarter of the book being really slow with a bunch of new alliances and characters I can truly say I don’t remember.
The beginning of this was a little jarring and confusing, even though I had just re-read the first book, and then the middle of this gets very intense and dark for a YA novel. Not to spoil anything, but we go to a very dark court where people are being tortured for eternity. I will say it was titillating to read and super visceral, but a little hard to read at that point.
The ending was nuts, and naturally, leads into the third and final installment of the series. I’m super curious to find out more, and see how the story will progress. Bowman really knows how to leave quite the cliffhanger.

My only complaint really is the time jump. While it makes sense and I can’t really argue against it, I wish we could have seen Nami become a badass and grow, rather than jump to her being skilled in fighting. BUT we do still get a bit of that, and the plot twist at the end has me both confused and excited for the next book!
