For a children's character, Anne Shirley is definitely a very well drawn character. It is impossible not to know her - her love of nature, her tendency to get lost in thought, her inability to use less than 100 words when 5 would suffice. Aside from a suprise bump in the road near the end, this book is a lovely, idyllic look at life.
