C. C. Hunter delivers again! ! Even though this was just a short novella, I felt like I connected back into the story. I wasn't been a big fan of Chase in the two After Dark novels, but I now think Chase has some serious potential for the final book in the trilogy!

I really loved this short story. I haven't read any of the Shadow Falls: After Dark books, but I can't wait to read them!

I guess I should have read this after Reborn or Eternal, not before... :/ Instead of finding it sad and thought-provoking I just found it very unrealistic (even in a fantasy world) and I did not enjoy it much.

Might be worth rereading after Reborn and Eternal.

This is a prequel of the Shadow Falls-After Dark series, although I am using the term prequel loosely. In Unbreakable we are given a brief glance on what sort of person was Chase Tallman, before he was a reborn.

After reading Unbreakable, I thought Chase was portrayed a rather typical teenager, probably nothing(?) like he is now in the Shadow Falls-After Dark series. The prequel was written with a piece of news of the plane crash follow by events that happened before the plane crash. Which is just your normal teenager stuff, with tiny bit of riddles on the supernatural world.

Sure you'll learn what a normal, predictable teenager boy Chase Tallman was before he was a vampire. And you'll meet his sister, who was kind of spoiled and native, and Chase's first (?)crush, who was an opposite of Della, and a creepy guy named Eric. Frankly I didn't particular liked any of them. There were other people mentioned that was responsible of Chase's changed, but that part was briefly written, so you'll get a name or two, but not much else.

To be honest, you won't miss much if you don't read this prequel.

I love that C.C. Hunter has given us novellas to accompany the Shadow Falls series. She has a large cast of characters, and they are all so great, so it is really amazing to get to read in the POVs and learn more about them. It honestly just makes the reading experience much better in my opinion.

This one, again in my opinion, is one of my favorite novellas she offers. I have read it twice now, and the first time I read it, it really made me fall in love with Chase's character. The second time, since I was already pretty much in love, I just got to feel that comfort read again. For those reading the Shadow Falls: After Dark and are on the fence if reading the novellas are necessary, they aren't necessary, but I promise you, you will have a much better time reading the rest of the series. And, if you are anything like me and was Team Steve, this book really helps us get more of Chase and understand him better. After this novella, I didn't have a team, I liked them both equally. Still do after re-reading it. But truly, this was a really fun novella and offered a great look into Chase's backstory.

Really great short story! Della definitely is a challenge, for sure! Poor Chase, though!

Such a great short story, of Chase's time just before the crash, and yeah, a bit bittersweet, knowing where it's going, but really enjoyed it!

Not bad for a prequel

I liked it ok, it was a nice background for the character. But it could have been better and longer.

A prequel short story about Chase. I like it and it gave a more detailed description of his past, but I wish it was longer. ^^
