This book is a compilation of stolen moments from Throne of Glass and ACOTAR.

I liked this book. I didn't LOVE this book. It was very predictable if you've read the Throne of Glass series. Clearly, the author has read it because the premise is so similar I was wondering if I was re-reading TOG without the spice.

I'm two books into this series and I'm going to keep going into book 3 to see if I will continue on after that. I like the characters and the plot but its similarity to TOG is throwing me off and making everything pretty predictable. Let's see what book #3 holds!

Wasn’t expecting to love the sequel as much as the first book. And while I wasn’t super happy with how quickly the developing love interest just vanished, but I very quickly looked forward to the chapters that had any hint of Reylan in them.
Both books made me cry which almost never happens anymore.
So well written, I can’t wait to continue.

A definite step up from the first novel! There's a lot more plot and more character development in this one. Not all of it seems all that connected, and not in the 'this will circle back later' sense but more in the 'this needs editing' sense. The characters also seem to have a lot going on behind the scenes with wildly changing emotions and motivations while only showing a tiny portion within the novel. It would've been nice to see a lot more of that and less of the random court politics that were mostly all just fluff. Overall I think the story itself is decent but the writing could use work. This one was quite long and honestly the important bits only took up a tiny portion. With more character work and plot structure and some general world building in a more organized way this would have been quite good. Still worth a read if you've got nothing else in your book pile at the moment.

I enjoyed the world expansion and then the twist at the end as I did not expect what Nik does and who Feythe was…

BUT

Why wasn’t there much action on the spying and assassinating ??!?

The relationships just baffled me too. The characters couldn’t really decide on who they were romantically interested in and it all got very convoluted because the separate POV did not actually help.

Hoping there’s some character growth in the next book and less inconsequential page fillers.
