I loved this book and had a hard time putting it down. Several times I even almost skipped pages. It kept me on the edge of my seat.

Its a pity that the most stars you can rate a book on Goodreads is limited to only five because if possible I'd have given this book stars that amount to tens and hundreds.

Good read! I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the arc so I can review this for YAFantasyGuide.com. As with all "epic fantasy" novels, it isn't whether we can read what the author telegraphs us in advance (no spoilers, but if you read this and don't see some things coming, bah!) - but its the anticipation and reveal that makes it worth it. Certainly a worthy read.

I absolutely LOVED this book! It was astounding to read, and was right up my alley, since I am studying Chinese. The cover is what drew me to it in the first place. I have the book that has the cover with the Mirror Dragon and Eona on the front. I could not be more happier with the purchase of this series. The characters are very well thought out and developed wonderfully throughout the story. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

Really good. A lot better than I thought it was going to be. Reminds me of a badass Mulan. I hope in the second book the prince now emperor becomes a love interest for Eona.

My Aunt got me this and I wasn't really keen to start it. The start was a bit confusing, understanding the whole 'Dragoneye' thing. But once the story going, I was laughing or stressing with anxiety about what was going to happen next. Eon/Eona was a really hard character to like at some parts of the book when she doubted herself and was leaning towards the Sun side of her, but by the end of the book she had grown on me. She isn't like other female protagonists in a fantasy novel that tend to play the strong hearted heroine, she's an average person; one that isn't overflowing with passion, confidence or charismatic leadership that makes her likeable. At times her bleakness made it challenging to continues reading. But as she learns that women do have an important role in society and bonds with the Mirror Dragon, her character grows and she becomes much more likeable.
A book that superbly covers the themes of politics, fantasy, mythology and historical Asian culture. I have to get hands on the sequel! (Hoping for a bit of romance with the Prince, or now known Pearl Emperor)
